HUMBLE, Texas – McNeese's
Blake Elliott was once again the team leader following Monday's second round of the All-American Intercollegiate at the Golf Club of Houston as the senior shot an even par 72 and will head into Tuesday's final round 3-under par and in a tie for fourth place on the individual leaderboard.
As a team, the Cowboys climbed two spots from Sunday's round and is in 10
th place with a two-round total of 598 following Monday's team score of 301.
Sam Houston State continues to lead the 14-team field with a 573 after a 290 round on Monday. The Cowboys are just 16 strokes back of fifth place.
Like he did on Sunday, Elliott dominated the par 5s on Monday, going 4-under with two birdies and an eagle. He also had a birdie on the par 4 12
th hole but recorded three straight bogeys on 16, 17, and 18 to keep his score out of the red on the day.
Sutton Farmer shot a 75 for the round, bettering his score by three strokes from Sunday.
Jack Hearn and
Reid Giardina each recorded rounds of 77 while Nick Mattner turned in a 78.
Elliott, ranked 47
th in the nation, held the top spot for a period during the day before his bogey stretch, but he'll still enter the final round just three strokes behind leader Cecil Wegener of Ole Miss who shot a 68 on the day to get to 6-under for the tournament.
The final round will get underway with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
