Cowboys Look to Bounce Back Quick Against Alcorn St.

LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese Cowboys will be back at home Tuesday to host the Alcorn State Braves in Joe Miller Ballpark. The Cowboys are looking to bounce back after dropping three-straight on the weekend in the Lake Area Classic.
 
This will be the first time in program history that the Cowboys take on Alcorn State. The two teams were scheduled to play in 2017, but due to heavy rain the game was cancelled.
 
After this weekends results, the Cowboys head into the weekend with a 3-4 record and have outscored their opponents 63 to 51.

Junior right-handed pitcher Hunter Reeves will be on the bump for Tuesday's game for the Cowboys. His last outing came in relief this past Saturday against Creighton, where he surrendered five runs on three hits and one walk. He will look to bounce back against the Braves.

• McNeese enters the mid-week game with a 3-4 record. The Cowboys fell to Creighton, 7-11, and Texas, 10-18 and 3-5.
• Senior third baseman Carson Maxwell had a great weekend, leading the Cowboys offensively with a .368 batting average after going 7-for-19 from the plate, with two doubles, one home run, four runs, and five RBI's.
• Junior outfielder Clayton Rasbeary leads the Cowboys in RBI's with 12, home runs with 4, and slugging percentage with a .781 percentage.
• On the mound, senior right-handed pitcher Aidan Anderson picked up his first loss of the season on Sunday after coming in to the game in the seventh and pitched 3.2 innings.
• McNeese is batting .283 as a team and has a 6.00 ERA, compared to opponents' .267 average and 6.69 ERA.
 
ON THE OPPONENTS
• The Braves enter Tuesday's game with a 3-5 record. Alcorn State split a four-game series against Florida A&M over the weekend, 5-4, 7-11, 8-7, 7-8 in Tallahassee, FL.
• They were a part of the MLB Urban Invitational in New Orleans to begin the season with Prairie View A&M, Southern, and Arkansas-Pine Bluff. They defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 10-9 and lost to Southern, 9-12, and Prairie View, 3-10.
• They have also played Southland member Nicholls on Feb 19, were they suffered a 5-25 loss.
 
ON DECK
Following the Tuesday's game the Cowboys will host Nicholls and Holy Cross in the Mardi Gras Classic on March 1-4 at Joe Miller Ballpark.
