Strong Field Entered for McNeese/LC Toyota Invite

LAKE CHARLES – McNeese men's golf will host the 2nd Annual Lake Charles Toyota Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at the Country Club at Golden Nugget, a tournament that will include 18 teams, two of those ranked in the top 20 in the nation.
 
Two rounds, 36 holes, will be played on Monday with a shotgun start at 7:50 a.m. while the final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday. Live results can be followed on Golfstat.com. The event is open to the public and free of admission charge.
 
Joining McNeese in the field of competition will be 10th-ranked Texas Tech and No. 18 Arkansas State. Also entered is No. 43 TCU, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, Arkansas-Little Rock, Nicholls, Texas State, Missouri State, Rice, Louisiana Tech, UTSA, New Orleans, Lamar, Stephen F. Austin, and Team Sweden.
 
McNeese is coming off a first place showing at the ULL Louisiana Classics a couple weeks ago where senior Blake Elliott took home the individual title as well.
 
Following that win, Elliott saw his national ranking bump up to No. 22 from 30. He'll enter the tournament with a 70.21 average on the season and a 70.0 spring average. In eight rounds on the spring, Elliott has shot under par in six rounds with five of those in the 60s.
 
Joining Elliott in the starting five for the Cowboys will be Jack Hearn (74.13), Nick Mattner (76.12), Sutton Farmer (74.74), and Reid Giardina (75.13).
 
Theo Berger (79.36) and Chase White (80.00) will be playing as individuals.
 
Elliott isn't the only high-ranking individual to be playing in the tournament. Texas Tech's Sandy Scott is ranked No. 24, Ivan Ramirez is No. 33, and Adam Blomme is 65th; TCU's Stefano Mazzoli is ranked 39th and Hayden Springer is 97th; and Zan Luka Stirn of Arkansas State is ranked No. 90 while Joel Wendin is 98th.
