Blake Elliott has been named the Southland Conference February Golfer of the Month after he posted a first place and two fourth place finishes in three tournaments played.
Elliott averaged a 70.0 per round score in eight rounds played and capped off the month with a first place finish at the Louisiana Classics following a 5-under 211. His performance also guided the Cowboys to the team title, winning by seven strokes and included a victory over 26
th-ranked Illinois.
Prior to his win at the ULL tournament, Elliott tied for fourth place at both the Sea Best Invitational (Jacksonville) and the All-American (Rice and Houston).
The Liberty Hills, Texas native shot par or better in six of the eight rounds played and had five rounds in the 60s with a low of 66 in the second round at the Sea Best tournament.
For his efforts, Elliott has seen his national ranking rise to No. 30 according to Golfstat.
Elliott and the Cowboys will next be in action March 18-19 when they host the Lake Charles Toyota Lake Charles Invitational at the Country Club at Golden Nugget.
