LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese Cowboys baseball team will play its first road game since February 20 when it beat Houston 13-5 in 14 innings, on Friday in Monroe against the UL-Monroe Warhawks. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. to begin a three-game weekend series.
 
This will be the 154-156th meeting between the Warhawks and Cowboys with the Cowboys leading the all-time series 81-72 and having won three of the last four match-ups.
 
McNeese last beat the Warhawks on April 24, 2018 by way of a 7-3 victory in 11 innings in Monroe.
 
Junior second baseman Nate Fisbeck, who was named this week's SLC Hitter of the Week after a stellar offensive output last week when he led the Cowboys to a perfect 5-0 record. In the five games, Fisbeck finished with a stat line of 11-for-22 at the plate, four doubles, four home runs, two stolen bases, 12 RBIs, and a slugging percentage of 1.227.
 
The Cowboys beat Alcorn State 8-1 on Feb. 26, then swept Nicholls and Holy Cross last weekend in the Mardi Gras Classic. Outscoring the three teams 36-12 in the five games.
 
The Cowboys are looking to bounce back quickly from an offense filled 16-10 loss to the ULL Ragin' Cajuns on Wednesday night at Joe Miller Ballpark.

• McNeese enters the weekend series winning five of their last six and an 8-5 record. The Cowboys defeated Alcorn State (8-1), Nicholls twice (7-6, 5-4), Holy Cross twice (13-0, 4-1), and lost to UL-Lafayette (10-16).
• Senior center fielder Shane Selman leads the Cowboys offensively with a .373 batting average after going 2-for-4 from the plate against the Cajuns. He is tied for the lead in doubles on the team with six, has two triples, one home run, and 14 RBI's.
• Junior outfielder Clayton Rasbeary is also a huge bat for the Cowboys, as he heads into the game with a hit in every contest this season, giving him a 13-game hitting streak.
• On the mound, senior right-handed pitcher Bryan King leads the team. He has a 1.93 ERA, 2-0 record, 14.0 innings pitched, and a team leading 16 strikeouts in three appearances.
• McNeese is batting .296 as a team and has a 5.23 ERA, compared to opponents' .236 average and 7.33 ERA.
 
ON THE OPPONENTS
• The Warhawks enter Friday's game with a 5-7 record. Most recently, UL-Monroe was swept in a two-game mid-week series against Southland foe Southeastern, 3-10 and 1-7.
• This will be their first home game since hosting Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in their lone home series thus far. They won that series 2-1, defeating the Cougars 12-3, 4-1, and losing 4-12.
 
ON DECK
Following the weekend series against the Warhawks, the Cowboys will travel straight to New Orleans to take on the Green Wave of Tulane on March 12 before heading home for the opening of conference play against the Lamar Cardinals at Joe Miller Ballpark March 15-17.
