McNeese finishes 13th at Houston event

PEARLAND, Texas – McNeese stumbled in the final round of the Bayou City Collegiate here on Tuesday, shooting a 301 as a team and finishing 13th out of 14 teams with a three round total of 893.
 
Blake Elliott led the Cowboys on the day with a 2-over 74 while Jack Hearn posted the most birdies on the team with four in the round, but four bogeys and a triple bogey finished him with a 76.
 
Sutton Farmer ended the day with a 75, Reid Giardina a 76, and Nick Mattner shot a 78.
 
For the tournament, Elliott finished tied for 14th at 1-over par with a three round total of 217. Hearn tied for 31st with a 6-over 222 while Mattner tied for 47th with a  226.
 
Sam Houston State won the team title with a 2-under 862. UTSA finished second with an 868, Texas State and UTA third at 870, and Arkansas State rounded out the top five with an 871.
 
UTSA's Collin Clark won the individual title with a 5-under 211 to edge out Zac Owens of Wichita State, Jake Benson of Rice, and Zan Luke Stirn of Arkansas State who all finished with a 212.
 
The Bayou City Collegiate is the final tune-up before next week's Southland Conference Championships.
