LAKE CHARLES – McNeese baseball will be looking to build off its crucial Southland Conference baseball series win against Abilene Christian this past weekend when it visits Southeastern Louisiana on Wednesday at 6 in non-conference action before returning home for a league series versus Stephen F. Austin.
 
Wednesday's game will air live on Cox Sports TV.
 
This will be the second meeting on the season between the Cowboys and Lions in non-league action. SLU won the first match-up 12-3 at Joe Miller Ballpark back on April 16. The two teams do not meet as conference opponents this year.
 
The Cowboys (23-21, 9-12 SLC) are looking to continue their success from a 3-1 week last week after defeating then-nationally ranked Louisiana Tech at home 5-3, followed by a series win at ACU over the weekend.
 
The Lions (24-20, 14-7 SLC) enter Wednesday's game winning three of their last four games, beating Tulane on the road in a mid-week matchup, 10-3, and then defeating conference opponent Corpus Christi, 2-games-to-1, on the road in a weekend three-game series.
 
Senior right-handed pitcher Zach Rider (0-0) will be on the bump for his first start on the season in Wednesday's game for the Cowboys. His last outing came in relief against Abilene Christian, where he surrendered only one run on four hits in 4.0 innings of work. This will be Rider's 10th appearances of the season and has compiled a 5.82 ERA, 14 strikeouts, 17.0 innings pitched, and only three walks. He will look to continue the Cowboys success against the Lions come Wednesday night.
 
The game will be broadcasted locally on Cox Sports Television.

• On the mound, freshman left-handed pitcher Will Dion leads the team in ERA with a 2.48, 4-0 record, 32.2 IP, 46 strikeouts, and only eight walks in 21 appearances.
• McNeese is batting .273 as a team and has a 4.76 ERA, compared to opponents' .249 average and 5.13 ERA.
 
ON THE OPPONENTS
• The Lions enter Tuesday's game with a 24-20 record and have won four of their last five.
• They defeated Tulane in a mid-week matchup last week, 10-3 in New Orleans.
• Most recently, Southeastern La. won a three-game series 2-1 against Texas A&M- Corpus Christi on the road.

Following Wednesday's game, the Cowboys will begin a seven-game home stand, beginning with a weekend conference series against Stephen F. Austin May 3-5, and then will host Prairie View in a mid-week game on Wednesday, May 8 at 6 p.m. in Joe Miller Ballpark.
