Cowgirls Fall in 3-2 Double Overtime Loss at Louisiana Tech

RUSTON- Junior midfielder Havana Johnson moved one step closer to etching her name in the McNeese record books in Friday night's 3-2 double overtime loss at Louisiana Tech. Johnson scored her first two goals of the season, which also happen to be her 14th and 15th career goals. With tonight's two goals, Johnson is just three goals behind 5th place held by Alana Clark.

The Cowgirls (2-2-0) dropped their second loss on the season and La. Tech (7-0-0) remains undefeated on the season. The Pokes will stay on the road and will travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas to face Arkansas (3-1-1) at 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
 
The Pokes found the back of the net first when Johnson scored her first goal of the season. The goal came in the 21st minute and was assisted by Rachel Adcock. The goal would hold as the Cowgirls held a 1-0 halftime lead. 
 
Louisiana Tech sophomore Autumn Woodard scored the equalizer just six minutes into the second half to improve her streak, and school record with her sixth straight game with a goal.
 
Johnson responded with a goal in the 55th minute, just five minutes apart from Woodard's goal, to put the Cowgirls back on top 2-1. Johnson was assisted by Anna Watson; the assist was Watson's second on the year.
 
McNeese sat comfortably at a 2-1 lead the majority of the second half. The Lady Techsters stayed in the game with a 71st minute goal by Quinn Parks to tie the score 2-2. 
 
Both teams remained scoreless in the first overtime that saw one shot on goal, and one save by both teams. The Lady Techsters stayed in their offensive third in the second overtime, picking up three corner kicks. The golden goal came off the foot of Connor Barker to earn her squad a home opening victory.
 
 
 
GAME NOTES:
• Johnson scored her 14th & 15th career goal. (three goals behind 5th place in all Cowgirl history)
• LTU barely out shot the Pokes with 15(7) to McNeese's 14(7).
•The Cowgirls had 14 fouls on the night, LTU had 6.
