FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.- The Arkansas Razorbacks got the revenge it wanted over the McNeese Cowgirls after dropping last year's match in overtime in Lake Charles as they powered by the Cowgirls on Sunday afternoon with a 7-0 win.

The loss dropped the Cowgirls' record to 2-3-0 on the season while Arkansas improved to 4-1-1 while recording its third consecutive shutout.

The Razorbacks owned their home field early by scoring goals in the third, fifth, seventh, eighth, and,12th minutes of the first half to grab a quick 5-0 lead as the goals were scored by four different players - Taylor Malham (two goals), Anna Podojil, Parker Goins, and Stefani Doyle.

The Cowgirls made a goalkeeper change in the 14th minute with Gabrielle Christy subbing in for Kelly Hines. Christy went on to make three saves and not let anything get past her in the first half.

Arkansas didn't let up in the second half and scored early in the 49th minute to go up 7-0 to complete the scoring. The Cowgirls held off the Razorbacks for 15 minutes until they found the back of the net again off a corner kick by Cara Young, whose shot floated into the box and was finished off the head of Reagan Swindall.

The Razorbacks recorded with 21 shots (14 on goal) and had six corner kicks on the day while McNeese managed just two shots and none on goal. Christy recorded seven saves and two goals allowed in her 75 minutes in goal while coming off the bench.

The Cowgirls will return home Friday night at 7 when they host Jackson State at Cowgirl Field.

QUOTING HEAD COACH DREW FITZGERALD

"Arkansas is a fantastic team. They've added quite a bit of technical ability to go with their athleticism and work rate.  I should have entered the match with a more defensive mindset and probably spread us out a bit more.  Our backline got an education on keeping play in front of them so I think we'll be better from here.  Anna fought really hard today and Olivia Broussard really calmed down our midfield, but it's tough to say anyone was great in a match like this.  All we can do is learn from it and get better.  And I believe that we will."
