LAKE CHARLES- McNeese softball would like to invite all fans to join them in watching the 2021 NCAA Softball Tournament selection show tonight at BeauxDine's (3013 Ryan Street, Lake Charles) beginning at 8 p.m. CT.
The show will be live on ESPN2 and on the
WatchESPN app.
McNeese will represent the Southland Conference as the automatic qualifier after posting a 4-0 record in the conference tournament including a 1-0 win over Central Arkansas in the championship game yesterday.
A total of 64 teams will be chosen to compete in the NCAA softball tournament.
Those 64 teams will then be split up into 16 different locations for the opening round of the tournament, otherwise known as the regionals. In each of the regionals, four teams will face off against each other in double-elimination tournaments.
The regionals are scheduled to take place from Friday, May 21 through Sunday, May 23. Regionals that have teams that have policies keeping them from competing on Sunday will have their regionals from Thursday, May 20 through Saturday, May 22.
Each of the 16 regionals is paired up with another regional. The winners from the regional rounds will then go on to face the team that won the regional they have been partnered up with. As such, there are a total of eight super regionals. The two teams that are in a super-regional will play a best-of-three series.
