Track Athletes of the Week

3 Pokes Honored SLC Track and Field AOW

FRISCO, Texas- Three McNeese athletes have been honored with their first Southland Conference Athletes of the Week following the Pokes' first meet of the season the Ted Nelson Invitational.  

Transfer sprinter Jalon White was awarded the Men's Track Athlete of the Week award after breaking the school's 400 record with a 47.05 finish. The Toronto Native's performance has placed him first in the league and sixth in the nation. White's 4X400 team had a second-place finish in the with a 45.40 running time in the anchor leg of relay. The Cowboy's 4x400 relay time of 3:13.29 ranks second in the league and 24th in the nation. 

The Women's Track Athlete Award was given to sophomore sprinter and jumper Dreunna Washington. The Cullen native placed first in the league for her 18-10 ½ the long jump and broke her indoor 200 PR (24.65 ).  

Southland Conference's second ranked pole vaulter Maja Gebauer earned the Women's Field Athlete Award. With a 12'2.5" mark, Gebauer earned first place at the Ted Nelson Invitational. 

Tyler Challis was given an honorable mention after placing first in the men's weight throw with a distance of 54-5 ½.
