LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women's soccer will begin reporting back to campus on Friday, July 29 with the Cowgirls conducting an ID camp on Saturday, July 30.
 
Next week's schedule has meetings and picture day scheduled for Tuesday, August 2.  The Cowgirls are scheduled to go through a fitness test in the morning of Aug. 3 with its first team practice taking place later that evening.
 
Fans will get their first chance to see the Cowgirls in their Blue/Gold game scheduled for Aug. 7.
 
Following an exhibition game at UL-Lafayette on Aug. 10, McNeese will host Sam Huston on Aug. 19 in its regular season and home opener. Admission is free for all home games.
 
McNeese returns 17 players from the 2021 team that posted a program record tying 13 wins (13-5-2) and finished second in the Southland Conference with a 9-2-1 record. The Cowgirls loss the bulk of its scoring to graduation last year in Havana Johnson, Keely Morrow, and Anna Watson along with goalie Emma Roccaforte.
 
Junior forward Rachel Young is one of the top returners who will be counted on to help provide the scoring this season. Young led the team with seven goals including two game winning goals a year ago.
 
The Cowgirls also return sophomore goalie in Jackie Kelly who led the team with 47 saves, a 0.82 goal against average and three shutouts as a rookie.
