Lake Charles – McNeese Cowgirl soccer sophomore
Florencia Saavedra has earned an international call-up to represent the Palestine Women's National Team in the upcoming West Asian Football Federation Championship, taking place November 17 through December 3 in Saudia Arabia.
"I am very happy to represent my entire family and to compete at this level. I'm grateful for the coaches who have allowed me to participate and helped me reach the level needed to earn a place with my country's senior national team. I'm also excited to share the roster with players from the University of San Fransico, Dayton, York (Canada), and several professional players competing for major clubs across Asia and Europe.," said Saavedra.
In her sophomore season with the Cowgirls, the forward played a key role during the season, logging 578 minutes across 13 matches, including 8 starts. She was credited with an assist against Southern University and credited with a goal against UTRGV while taking five shots total with two on goal.
For her total career as a Cowgirl thus far, she has logged 786 minutes across 25 matches, including 9 starts. Saavedra has contributed offensively with nine shots, four of which were on goal during her two seasons as a Cowgirl with her first collegiate goal coming against Houston Christian during her freshman season.

Yepes also stated, "She has been a consistent call-up for the Palestine senior national team, competing in World Cup Qualifiers, and now she will take part in the West Asian Federation Championship. It's extremely rewarding to see McNeese represented in some of the most important international competitions in the world and players like Flo, with her talent and character, will continue to carry our institution's name with honor."
