LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese Cowboy and Cowgirl indoor track and field team cruised to team titles on Friday in the running of the McNeese Indoor II, the Cowboys racking up 116 points while the Cowgirls dominated with 201 points.
 
The next closest to the Cowboys in the team standings was Southland Conference foe Southeastern with 69 points while on the women's side, St. Edward's finished second with 43 points.
 
The Cowboys 4x400-meter relay team comprised of Kaleb Blalock, Ondray Miles, Jalon White and Colby Trahan ran one of the fastest times in school history in the event with a time of 3:18.47 and threatening the record of 3:12.80 that was set last season at the SLC Indoor Championships.
 
In addition to the new record, the Cowboys had a first place in the 800-meters from Filippo Squassina with a personal record time of 1;55.73. Freshman Logan Broussard placed first in the pole vault with a season-best mark of 14-7.25. Broussard also finished second in the long jump at 21-10.5.
 
In all, the Cowboys posted 16 new personal records on the day.
 
The Cowgirls dominated the meet with 10 first place finishes and 21 personal records set.
 
Morgan Talley was the big winner with three victories on the day in the 55-meter hurdles, long jump and triple jump. Her 8.33 time in the hurdles and 18-9.5 in the long jump were both personal records. She also won in the triple jump with a 38-8.5 mark.
 
Kayla Harrison won the 55-meter dash with a PR time of 7.22 and Ciara Gilroy posted a new PR in the mile run with a winning time of 5:03.64. Also, Jordan Carter won the 400-meters with a personal record time of 58.90, Mariah Lee won the weight throw with a PR of 58-2, and Chloe Peloquin won the pole vault with a height of 10-6 to set a new PR. Other first place finishes saw Sakari Famous with the high jump at 5-7, extending her winning streak to six straight meets, while the 4x400 relay team of Carter, Harrison, Boluwatife Akinwande and Kayla Warner clocked a 3:54.82 to win the event.
