LAKE CHARLES— Coming off its most successful season since 2018, McNeese women's tennis under first-year head coach
Gabby Moore has been regionally ranked No. 10 in the Southern Region by the ITA in its year-end spring season rankings. The Southern Region consists of Division I teams from the states of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.
"I'm so proud of these ladies," said Moore. "This is just a testament to the hard work these girls put in this season. This is an amazing accomplishment and stepping stone to what I believe this team is capable of achieving."
The Cowgirls ended their successful season with a 15-6 overall record and advanced to the Southland Conference Tournament semifinal round for the first time since 2018. The 15 wins marks the first time McNeese wins 10 or more matches since the 2019 season, when that team won 11 matches. The 5-0 start this season is also the best start since the 7-0 start in 1999.
The ranking is the third time the program has been ranked and the second appearance in the Top 10 in the ITA final poll. The 2014 team under the direction of Danielle Steinberg ranked 9
th in the Southern Region and the 2004 team under former head coach Pat McCain ranked 15
th in the Southwestern Region.
