LAFAYETTE, La. - The quad of Marcus Francis, Sakari Famous, Blanche Beard, and Mariah Lee all stood victorious for the McNeese men and women's track and field programs Saturday at the ULL Louisiana Classics.

"It was a good day all around," said head coach Brendon Gilroy. "It was a good day in the field with Marcus, Blanche, Sakari and Mariah all getting first."

Junior Francis earned the top position in the the shot put for the men with a mark of 17.50m, a season best.

Famous, a redshirt senior, won her second consecutive high jump title in as many meets with a mark of 1.80m in the women's high jump.

A junior, Blanche took the top mark in the javelin with a season-best mark of 45.87m

Lee, a redshirt senior, claimed the final gold medal of the day for Poke Nation, laying down a mark of 58.66m in the hammer throw, a season-high distance.

The Cowboys and Cowgirls set 14 personal bests on the day within just the Top 15 finishers alone. Several members of the team further set season bests to continue to improve among the young season.
