Records fell for the McNeese track and field program this past weekend while competing at the SFA Carl Kight Invitational in addition to a couple of runners traveling out west to run in the Bryan Clay Invite.

Freshman runner
Alex Martin broke a 52-year-old school record in the 800-meters when he clocked a 1:49.07 at the SFA meet to win the event. That broke the old record of 1:49.12 that was held by McNeese Hall of Famer and Irish Olympian, the late Fanahan McSweeney.

The Cowgirl 4x400 relay team also set a new school record by cruising to a time of 3:41.38 to win the event. The team built with
Kayla Harrison,
Jashyra Thomas,
Jordan Carter and
Kayla Warner, topped the old mark of 3:43.23 by nearly three seconds.

At Azusa Pacific at the Bryan Clay Invite,
Jeny Barcenas broke her own school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:30.48. She first broke the record just three weeks ago.

Also at the Bryan Clay Invitational,
Omer El-Fadl moved closer to the school record in the 1500m, clocking a personal best time of 3:45.71 and moving him into the No. 2 spot all-time in school history.

Continuing at SFA, Warner improved on her best time in the 800-meters when she ran a 2:10.82, a half second better than her previous best and ranking No. 2 all-time in school history.

Cowboy thrower
Marcus Francis continues to get closer to the 60-feet mark and for the second straight week, posted a personal record, this time at 58-6.5 and holding onto the No. 3 spot on the all-time list.

In addition to wins by Martin, Francis and the Cowgirls' 4x400 team, McNeese posted three other first place finishes at SFA.

Blanche Beard continued her dominance in the javelin event after winning for the sixth time this season and 14
th time her career, throwing 154-3.

Mariah Lee captured her fifth win on the season in six meets in the hammer throw, tossing 180-8, and
Ciara Gilroy picked up her second win on the season in the 1500m after recording a 4:37.26.

The Cowboys and Cowgirls will split this coming weekend to take part in both the LSU Alumni Gold and the Rice Fred Duckett Invite in what will be the final tune-up before the May 9-11 Southland Conference Championships.
