LEXINGTON, Kentucky – McNeese's versatile track and field standout Morgan Talley saved the best triple jump of her career for her last on the final day at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East First Round here Saturday.
 
Talley jumped 41-8 ¾ on her first attempt to set a new personal record – third-best jump in school history – but it wasn't enough to hold onto a spot in the top 12 to advance to next week's NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
 
The Southland Conference Outdoor Track & Field Most Valuable Performer finished 18^th in the event, closing out a remarkable collegiate career that saw her capture 12 medals at the SLC indoor and outdoor championships, including five gold medals.
 
Also on Saturday, Sakari Famous tied for 14^th in the women's high jump with a clearing of 5-9 ¼, falling just short of 12^th place (5-11 ¼) and advancing to the championships.
 
On Friday, Cowboys' thrower Marcus Francis competed in his second event of the regional, this time throwing 166-2 in the men's discus to finish 39^th.
