Talley saves best jump of career for last at NCAA Regional

LEXINGTON, Kentucky – McNeese's versatile track and field standout Morgan Talley saved the best triple jump of her career for her last on the final day at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East First Round here Saturday.

Talley jumped 41-8 ¾ on her first attempt to set a new personal record – third-best jump in school history – but it wasn't enough to hold onto a spot in the top 12 to advance to next week's NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

The Southland Conference Outdoor Track & Field Most Valuable Performer finished 18th in the event, closing out a remarkable collegiate career that saw her capture 12 medals at the SLC indoor and outdoor championships, including five gold medals.

Also on Saturday, Sakari Famous tied for 14th in the women's high jump with a clearing of 5-9 ¼, falling just short of 12th place (5-11 ¼) and advancing to the championships.

On Friday, Cowboys' thrower Marcus Francis competed in his second event of the regional, this time throwing 166-2 in the men's discus to finish 39th.
