LAKE CHARLES – After wrapping up a three-game homestand with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Nicholls on Friday, the McNeese women's soccer team will be tested on the road as the Cowgirls prepare to battle defending Southland Conference tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana on Sunday at 1 p.m.
McNeese (3-4-1, 1-0 SLC) is coming off of a huge conference opening victory over the Colonels Friday night in an offensive attack led by sophomore standout
Savannah LaRicci, who turned in two goals and an assist in the match.
The win also extended the Cowgirls unbeaten streak to three games, which stands as the longest in the conference alongside Stephen F. Austin.
An aggressive performance by the McNeese offense has been a force to be reckoned with on the pitch this season. The Cowgirls have outshot their opponents 124-73 along with a 38-23 advantage in corner kicks.
The McNeese "Steel Curtain" defense has been the difference maker late in each of the Cowgirl's matches in 2014 having allowed just 36 shots and four goals in the second half and overtime periods, an average of only four shots in the latter part of the match per game.
Junior goalkeeper
Maggie Marks continues to be the rock in between the posts turning in three clean sheets and recording three wins on the season. Marks has logged 20 saves on 52 shots faced for a 1.19 goals against average, which ranks third in the conference.
Southeastern Louisiana (8-1, 1-0 SLC) enters Sunday's contest after opening its SLC slate with a 3-2 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The Lady Lions have turned in a conference high six shutouts against its opponents and have allowed only five goals in nine matches.

Bri Singh leads the offensive charge for the Lady Lions as she has charted 10 goals and three assists for 23 points. SLC Freshman of the Year Hope Sabadash has played all but 45 minutes in goal, sporting a 0.59 GAA in all nine starts.
