LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese track and field program will continue its indoor season on Friday when it hosts the McNeese Indoor II College meet at the Ralph O. Ward Recreation Complex. A high school meet on Saturday will complete the two-day event.
The meet will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday with the women's weight throw and men's shot put. Running events will kick-off at 4:30 p.m. with the men and women's 55-meter hurdles and 55-meter dash preliminaries.
Joining McNeese on Friday will be: Grambling, Huston-Tillotson, LeTourneau, Loyola-New Orleans, Southeastern, Southern, TAMU-Kingsville, UL-Lafayette, UL Monroe, Next Level Athletic Club, Premier Performance Athletics, and a few McNeese alumni.
Coming off of a great showing at the Samford Invite,
Tyler Smith will toe the line in the 55m dash. His time of 6.75 in the 60m currently ranks him third in the conference.
Men' high jumper
Lentz Similien currently holds the third best jump in the Southland Conference with a height of 6-6.25. He will also be competing in the triple jump where he holds the fourth best leap of 48-6.
On the women's side, mile runner
Alex Eykelbosch will toe the line as the league leader with a time of 9:55.86.
Alanna Arvie will be competing in the weight throw and shot put, two events that she ranks in the top five of conference standing.
Also competing on Friday will be former distance runner Jarrett LeBlanc, a 2020 Olympic Marathon Trials qualifier who will run in the 3,000-meters while
Olandis Johnson will compete in the 800-meters.
