LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women's golf team will open its spring schedule this weekend at the Grand Canyon Spring Invitational Saturday and Sunday at the Grand Canyon Golf Course in Phoenix, AZ. Live scoring will be available on golfstat.com. Start time is slated for 9 a.m. (CT) shotgun start.
The 19-team field will also include Norther Arizona, South Dakota State, Montana State, Portland State, North Dakota State, CSU-Bakersfield, Creighton, UC-Riverside, Seattle, Lamar, Northern Colorado, Eastern Washington, California Baptist, CSU-Northridge, Hawaii, Southern Utah, Toledo, and host Grand Canyon.
Portland State enters the tournament as the two-time defending champs having won the tournament in 2017 and 2018. Montana State junior Kelly Hooper will look to defend her individual title after winning it in 2017 with a 219.
Making up the McNeese lineup will be junior
Riley Isaac, sophomore
Janie Morrison and freshmen
Cameron Newhouse,
Maria Garcia, and
Marina Martinez.
Isaac is coming off a fall season where she led the team with a 74.08 stroke average in four tournaments. Garcia was third on the team with a 75.83 average in the fall in four tournaments as well. Newhouse ended the fall with an 80.33 average, Martinez posted an 81.17 average and Morrison ended the fall with an 83.33 average in only one tournament played.
