McALLEN, Texas-- McNeese women's junior golfer Riley Issac posted her career highest finish Tuesday at the UT-Rio Grande Valley Invitational with a third place finish with a 221 following a final round of 75. Isaac was one shot out of second place held by Sam Houston State's Hanna Alberto.
Texas State's Anne-Charlott Mora was the individual medalist, taking the title by four shots with a 216.
Riley opened tournament play on Monday with rounds of 71 and 75 then posted another 75 in the final round. She opened the final round with five straight pars before dropping one shot with a bogey on no. 10. She then parred the next four holes before getting that shot back with a birdie on no. 15. After a par on no. 16, she would then drop three shots in her final five holes of the round.
Sam Houston State took the team title with a final round 301 to win by eight strokes over second place Texas State.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi finished in third place followed by UT-Rio Grande Valley, Stephen F. Austin, Incarnate Word and McNeese in seventh place.
Omaha finished in eighth place followed by Western Texas CC, Weber State, Creighton, Texas A&M-Kingsville, McClennan CC, Chicago State, and Prairie View.
