McNeese Cowgirl multi-sport All-American and record holder
Grace McKenzie will compete in her first heptathlon this outdoor season when she opens up action on Wednesday at the prestigious Texas Relays in Austin.
Â
McKenzie, who qualified for the NCAA Championships in the heptathlon last outdoor season but did not compete due to an injury, will be looking to build on her multiple record-setting indoor season.Â
Â
"It'll be a good indication of where we're at," said McKenzie. "Hopefully whatever comes of these two days will only be a fraction of what's to come in the next few weeks at the championship meets. Of-course the goal is to come out healthy and get the team of to a good start."
Â
McKenzie will be joined by fellow Cowboy and Cowgirl teammates throughout the week as both will be competing at Texas Relays and Texas State Bobcat Invitational from Wednesday through Saturday.Â
Â
The squads will go up against some stiff competition at both meets, facing not only professional athletes but also some of the best the NCAA has to offer.
Â
McKenzie will kick off the week with the heptathlon Wednesday morning at 10:30 at the Texas Relays. The Bobcat Invitational will get underway on Thursday morning.
