LAKE CHARLES – What's done is done as far as non-conference play is concerned as the McNeese State soccer team looks to wipe the slate clean Friday evening when it steps into Southland Conference action against rival Southeastern Louisiana with kickoff set for 7 p.m. at Cowgirl Field.

McNeese (3-3) wrapped up its six match non-conference schedule having dominated the first three contest with wins against ULM, Prairie View A&M and Texas State. However, the Cowgirls have nursed some injuries over the last couple of weekends but are ready to begin what is sure to be a challenging league docket.

Bettina Brulhart has also scored two goals. The McNeese defense has supported the team's efforts in posting two shutouts while holding teams to one goal or less in four of the first six matches.
Southeastern Louisiana (5-1-1) comes into the match as one of the top offensive teams in the nation. The Lady Lions who have won three of their last five matches, are ranked second in the nation in goals scored per game (3.43) and also lead the nation in total assists (25) and assists per game (3.57).
Leading the charge for SLU is Gisenia Utreras who has tallied four goals and six assists so far this season while Marisa Rodrigues is not far behind with four goals and four assists of her own. Together, the Lady Lions have four players who have at least two goals and four assists.
Southeastern Louisiana goalkeeper Hope Sabadash has posted a 0.97 goals against average after allowing only seven goals in 650 minutes of action.
The Lady Lions return eight starters and 21 letterwinners from last season's squad that finished 12-8 overall on the season.
The Cowgirls are looking for their first regular season victory over Southeastern Louisiana since 2011 when they defeated the Lady Lions in Hammond. The last time that McNeese won a match against Southeastern in Lake Charles occurred in 2008.
