WHAT'S AT STAKE
McNeese will be looking to move past the opening round after losing back-to-back games in last year's tournament. The winner will play the winner of the Sam Houston State/Corpus Christi game at 7 p.m. on Thursday while the loser will take on the loser of that game at 12 o'clock Thursday afternoon in an elimination game.
McNeese was swept by the Cardinals earlier this season in Lake Charles.
This will be the first meeting between the two teams in the conference tournament.
McNEESE VS. THE TOURNEY FIELD
The Cowboys posted a 3-6 record against teams on their side of the bracket – 2-1 vs. Corpus Christi, 1-2 at Sam Houston State, and 0-3 vs Incarnate Word.
On the other side, the Cowboys went 3-0 vs. Stephen F. Austin, 1-2 at Central Arkansas, 1-2 at Northwestern State, and 0-2 against Southeastern Louisiana.
TOURNEY TIME
McNeese will be making its 18th appearance in the postseason conference tournament. The Cowboys have compiled an overall record of 16-27 in the tourney and have won the title in both the 1993 and 2003 seasons.
McNeese was defeated by Northwestern State and Nicholls in the opening rounds last season.
In 2016, McNeese made it to day four of the tourney, falling to Southeastern Louisiana in the championship game of its side of the bracket.
This is the sixth straight season head coach
Justin Hill has led the Cowboys to the tournament.
