COLLEGE STATION – The McNeese men's and women's track and field teams will kick off the indoor season on Friday when they compete in the Ted Nelson Invitational at Texas A&M.
Events are scheduled to begin at noon with the women's high jump, men's pole vault, and men and women's long jump. Track events will also begin at noon with the women's 60 meters preliminaries.

Joining McNeese in College Station are: Texas A&M, Houston Baptist, Incarnate Word, UL-Lafayette, ULM, Louisiana Tech, New Mexico JC, Northwestern St, Prairie View A&M, Sam Houston St, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Texas Southern, Tillotson University, UTRGV, and Western Texas College.
McNeese head coach Brendon Gilroy has entered the men in 15 events and 16 events for the women.
On the men's side, Lentz Similien will compete in the high jump, an event he placed third in at the 2018 Southland Conference Indoor Championships.
In the 400-meter race, SLC finals qualifier Terrill Banks will be joined be Kobe Nevills, Blake Comeaux, Ethan Rapp, and Morgan Fredrick.
Comeaux, Banks, Rapp, and Nevills will also run the 4 x 400-meter relay. An event that saw the same group take fourth place at last years SLC Indoor Championships.
For the women, Grace McKenzie will return to the track after a historic sophomore year that saw her with top finishes in the pentathlon and heptathlon at the 2018 SLC Indoor Championships and Outdoor Championships, respectively.
Junior thrower Alanna Arvie will be competing in both the shot put and weight throw, two events in which she finished in the top four at the 2018 SLC Indoor Championships.
Alex Eykelbosch and Gladys Jerotich will return to long distance running after successful 2018 cross country campaigns. Both women will be competing in the 3,000-meter race on Friday. Eykelbosch took third in the 1500-meter race at the 2018 SLC Outdoor Championships while Jerotich finished fourth in the 6,000-meter cross country championship.
