LAKE CHARLES – Twelve first place finishes and 11 personal records broken highlighted McNeese's performance at the McNeese Indoor II Invitational here Friday afternoon at the Ralph O. Ward Recreation Complex as both the Cowboys and Cowgirls swept the teamtitles.

The Cowboys recorded 165 points, beating out Louisiana-Lafayette (113), Southeastern Louisiana (110), Southern (33) and Grambling (27). The Cowgirls racked up 174 total points, followed by Southeastern Louisiana (109), Southern (55), ULL (50) and Grambling (34).

Cowboy sprinter
Tyler Smith kept his hot streak going with a first place finish in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.42, just .03 seconds off his personal best.

Also for the men,
Luke Horgan took first in the 800-meters with a time of 1:58.29 and freshman
Joey Croft grabbed his first collegiate win in his first appearance in the mile run with a time of 4:17.79.

Nemanja Koviljac (46-6.25),
Lentz Similien (46-3.50) and
Darion Dunn (42-2.25) finished 1-2-4 in the triple jump as Dunn was competing in the event for the first time and also placed third in the long jump.

The 4x400-meter relay was an exciting one as Cowboy anchor
Jakalub Rhodes came from behind to help the Cowboys edge out Southeastern Louisiana by .06 seconds as McNeese took the win with a time of 3:24.37.

On the women's side,
Aleyah Donald set a new PR in the 55-meters with a winning time of 7.14. Freshmen
Shania Anthony and
Shaelyn Hines picked up their first collegiate wins, Anthony in the 600-meters at 1:38.08 while Hines won the 55-meter hurdles at 8.44.
Brentney Carroll (8.48) and
Rachel Woods (8.50) followed Hines to finish second and third in the hurdles while both set new PRs in the process.

Hines also finished second in the long jump (18-2.25) and was third in the triple jump (37-8.50), both season highs for the freshman.

Crystal Coulter won the high jump at 5-feet, 5-inches and
Heaven Terrell captured first place in the long jump with a mark of 18-4.50
