He led McNeese State into the senior college era, as both foot­ball coach and athletic director. During a nine year coaching career his teams posted a 50-42-2 won lost record and partici­pated in four bowl games. As athletic director, a position he held from 1946 to 1969, he was the overseer of an athletic program that won a national championship in basketball and also won 25 conference titles and a conference all-sports trophy. A native of Minden he was team captain on the standout Louisiana College football teams in the 1920s. Following graduation he went into coaching and served at LaGrange, Lake Charles and Lafayette high schools before taking over at McNeese.
