Kohrs, who competed for the Cowboys from to 1979, is considered to be one of the best distance runners in McNeese history. 

At one time, he held six school records and continues to rank in the top 5 all-time in the 3000m steeplechase (2nd, 8:53.0), 3000-meters (3rd, 8:25.0),1500-meters (4th, 3:47.5). He currently holds the school indoor three mile record of 13:53.4 and the Bill and Lena Henning Track Complex records of 3:49.20 in the 1500 meters and 8:53.0 in the 3000m steeplechase. 

A native of Madison, WIS, Kohrs was named the Southland Conference track athlete of the year in 1979 when he won both the steeplechase and the 1500 meter run at the conference meet.  That year he was also named the McNeese team MVP.
           
Besides the steeplechase and the 1500 meter run titles he won in 1979, Kohrs also won league cross country championships in 1977 and 1978, helping the Cowboys to the team title in 1978.
           
He earned both his bachelor and master degree from McNeese, worked in the private sector after graduating and then spent 13 years as head of human resources at the university.  He is now an engineer tech with DOTD.
           
Kohrs and wife Vi have a daughter Farah.
