He played in the early 1950s for the Cowboys and in 1952 set a rushing standard that still stands. That season he car­ried the football 169 times for 1,313 yards. His 7.8 average per carry remains as a school record. He only played in a few games the following year before leaving school and joining the Marines. However, the 1,624 yards he netted in his career rank among McNeese’s top 20. Twice in his career he ran for over 200 yards in a game, netting 213 on 21 carries against Sam Houston State and 210 yards on 21 trips against Tampa University, both in the 1952 season.
