One of the top lefthanders in McNeese State baseball his­tory, he won 25 games and still holds five school records. His 29 complete games and his nine shutouts remain as school records as does the 15 batters he struckout in a seven inning game. For three straight years he led the Cowboys in won-lost record and in 1979 went 7-2 with a 2.97 ERA and 82 strikeouts. He went on to play nine sea­sons in the major leagues with the New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs and Minnesota Twins. He had a 25-26 won-lost record in the majors including a 16-11 mark with the Yankees (8-2 in 1983). He lives in Lake Charles
