He was a two sport performer for the Cowboys, playing wide receiver and kick returner in football and running the sprints and jumping in track and field. In 1964 he set what was then the school record of 9.6 in the 100 yard dash and he was also the team’s leading scorer that year. In 1965 he led the McNeese football team in kickoff returns with an average of 23.1 yards a return and he also topped all Gulf States Conference kickoff returners.
