Hall of Fame
Fuhrer was a standout defensively for Cowboy football teams from 1967 to 1970, earning all-conference honors as both a defensive guard and as a linebacker. He played at 6-1 and 190 pounds for most of his career and had arrived at McNeese as a walkon, earning a scholarship in his first season.
The Franklin native was credited with 175 tackles during his four year career along with a pass interception, a blocked PAT and six fumble recoveries.

Besides the two all-conference honors, he was also named to an all-decade team for the 1960s.

Furher graduated from McNeese in 1971 with a degree in accounting and earned a law degree from Loyola of New Orleans in 1975. He is a criminal defense lawyer practicing in Morgan City and has two sons, Jeremiah and Taylor.
