He was a two sport standout, earning all-conference recog­nition as a catcher and outfielder in baseball and as a line­backer and center in football. He earned all-conference honors as a catcher in 1959 and as an outfielder in 1961. Kahn was the Cowboys home run leader in 1962. In foot­ball Kahn was a two-time all-conference pick as both a center and linebacker, being a team leader on the Golden Isles Bowl championship team in 1962.
