He was one of the leaders in the early McNeese golf program, playing in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Twice he was named the Cowboys' most valuable player and was also the team’s leading scorer in 1961 and 1962, producing a 71.8 mark in ‘61 that remains as the school record. Farr was champion of what is now the Moe O’Brien Memorial tournament in 1961 and as a freshman golfer in 1959 he tied a Gulf States Conference 18 hole record by shooting a 66. After college and a stint in the service he became a PGA professinal, serving as club pro at the Willowdale Country Club in Luling. He is now retired and living in Lake Charles and in recent years has won Gulf States PGA section senior and super-senior championships.
