Hall of Fame
Young was a track standout who held school records in sprints and jumps.
He was a two-time Southland Conference champion in the 1983 season when he won gold in both the 100 and 200 meters. He also earned the league's High Point Scorer Award that year as well as being named the league's Outstanding Track Performer.
The Texas City, Texas native held the school record in the 100 meters (10.14) until McNeese Hall of Famer Brian Cooper broke it four years later.
Young still holds two of the five fastest times in school history in the 100 meters (10.14, 10.35) and two of the five fastest in the 200 meters as well (20.70, 20.85).
