He was a leader of Ralph O. Ward coached teams in the 1960s, earning the team most valuable player award in 1967-68 when the Cowboys went 20-5, won the Gulf States Conference title and hosted a NCAA Division II regional tournament. That year he also led the Cowboys in rebounding with a 10.5 average. He was an all-around standout and also served the Cowboys as team captain. Green concluded his career with a total of 824 points in 68 games for a 12.1 scoring average and 506 rebounds for a 7.4 mark. Following graduation he would work in the field of education for the state of Louisiana.
