A standout on Cowboy teams in the late 1960s and early 1970s, he scored a career total of 1,476 points in 86 games for a 17.2 average. Twice he was named to the all-conference team and twice he was the team’s MVP. He was a 6-2 forward who had the shooting touch of a guard and he had a jumping ability that enabled him to lead his team in rebounding for three straight seasons. His career rebound average was 8.5 and his total of 729 rebounds ranks 10th on the McNeese all-time chart. During his career he was an all-American candidate and was named as one of the top six players in the state (a team that included Pete Maravich of LSU and Marvin Winkler of USL) by a state newspaper.
