The winningest coach in McNeese State history, he is also in the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame. During a 19 year career his teams won 284 games, six conference titles and a national championship (NAIA in 1956). He was a stickler on defensive basketball - having had as his mentors such greats as Henry Iba of Oklahoma State and Presley Askew of Arkansas. Twelve times his teams produced a winning season and nine times his teams won more than 15 games. His national championship team went 33-3. Six times he was named the conference coach of the year and he pro­duced such all-Americans as Bill Reigel, Frank Glenn and Stan Kernan, all members of the McNeese Hall of Fame. (DECEASED)
