He was the first nationally ranked sprinter in McNeese track history and performed for the Cowboys from 1964 to 1967. In the 1967 season he broke or tied a total of seven school and conference records. He was the conference 440 yard dash champion with a league and school record 47.3 in 1967 and also set school records in the 220 yard dash (21.5) and 440 intermediate hurdles (55.7), tied a school record in the 100 yard dash (9.6) and helped set records in the 440 yard and one mile relays. After graduating from McNeese he served 15 years as track and football coach at Lake Charles and LaGrange High, eight times being named district coach of the year and five times his team winning league titles. He is now retired.
