He was a standout linebacker for the Cowboys from 1974 to 1977. He earned all-Southland Conference honors in both 1975 and 1977 and served as the team captain in 1977 while also being named the team's most valuable player. He played on the Independence Bowl championship team in 1976 and led the team in tackles in both 1975 (90) and in 1977 (156). He is presently fifth on the all-time career tack­les chart with 337 and his single season high is third all-time high. After graduation he went into coaching, serving a stint as an assistant coach at McNeese. He is now in the high school ranks where he has led his teams to numerous district titles and into the state playoffs.
