He was a hot hitting outfielder for the Cowboys from 1971 to 1974, earning two team MVP awards, leading the squad in batting twice and claiming two first team all-conference honors. As a freshman in 1971 he led the team in batting with a .314 mark and in 1974 he was tops with a .326 aver­age, also leading in base hits, at bats and stolen bases. He concluded his career with 143 base hits and nine triples, both marks still among the all-time leaders. He was also one of the better fielders during his career, committing only eight errors in four seasons. He was a chemical engi­neer for 30 years and now raises Hereford cattle as an owner of a ranch and cattle company in southeastern Oklahoma.
